It’s a TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE ART.* On April 8, 2024, at 3:25 pm, Plattsburgh, NY, will be on the path of totality for the total solar eclipse! For nearly four minutes the moon will block out the sun and plunge us into darkness, a phenomenon that those of us in New York State will not see again for decades. To celebrate this once in a lifetime moment, we’ve curated a few special FREE community events:

Darkness & Light Exhibition
April 5-27
Strand Center Gallery (1st Floor)Darkness & Light is a two part collaborative exhibition between the Strand Center for the Arts and SUNY Plattsburgh to celebrate the 2024 eclipse. The Darkness theme will be exhibited at the Strand Center Gallery and the Light theme will be exhibited in the Feinberg Library at SUNY Plattsburgh.

Community Poetry Event
Saturday, April 13, 12-3pm
Printmaking Studio (Basement Level)Let's commemorate the solar eclipse through poems. Stop by the Strand with your family and friends to write a poem about your eclipse experience. The poems will then be collected to be published in a chapbook that all attendees will receive a copy of.
