Gisele Hanson
“My name is Gisele Hanson, I am married and we are parents to two sons that happen to live next door with their family. We have lived on the Beekmantown farm since 1973. I feel very blessed with my life, family and community.
I always liked to draw. We had horses on my parents' farm in Quebec, so horses were then my favorite subject. In school, I had the job to draw and color(chalk) the proper holiday scene on the blackboard. Once out of school, I started to paint in oil, then watercolor. Looking at these today, they are quite embarrassing by how bad they were. Over the years, I have tried and done many other crafts and hobbies like gardening, felting, pottery making, stained glass etc.
For quite a few years, I made miniature doll and dollhouse furniture. There is a whole community in the world of miniature. I participated in sale events put up by the Miniature Guild.
All this while also holding a full-time job at Wyeth, from which I retired after 38 years. I am proud to say I was the first woman to work in the maintenance department, a very handy experience to have at home.
A few years ago, I started to paint again, I love experimenting with the acrylic fluid art and watercolor. I am an unfocused artist, often distracted by something new or different, which possibly stood in the way of my progress in one chosen type of art, but I’ve had a lot of pleasure in exploring many avenues.”
